Background:
I'm a fourth-year doctoral student in the Human Factors program at ODU, and currently work as a graduate research assistant with Dr. Mark Scerbo. I'm also the President of the ODU Human Factors and Ergonomics Society student chapter (2009-2010). My research interests include multi-sensory information architecture and display, haptic/tactile perception, and use of modeling and simulation technologies for training and evaluation.
Since working in Dr. Carryl Baldwin's DriveSim lab during my first year in the program, I moved into Dr. Jim Bliss's REACTS lab (Research Environment for Alarms and Complex Task Simulation) and have worked in conjunction with Joint Systems Integration Command (JSIC), General Dynamics Corporation, the ODU Computer Science Department, the US Navy SEALs, the Army Research Institute, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, and SimQuest LLC. I currently work with Dr. Mark Scerbo in exploring the benefits of simulation technology for medical training.
In addition to my research involvement, I'm an active member of the ODU Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Student Chapter, the ODU Industrial-Organizational Psychology Student Association, and the ODU Graduate Student Organization. Feel free to contact me if you would like to get involved with research or have any questions about human factors, the graduate program, or our student groups.
